Words of Welcome
Good evening and welcome! Love has gathered us today. We are here to celebrate the love that Jane and Joe have for each other as well as the love that each of you has given them throughout their lives. As family and friends, you are the ones who have taught this couple how to love. Having planted this seed of love in them, we are now gathered to support them as they embark upon their journey as husband and wife.
Prayer
Let us join our hearts in prayer…
Heavenly Creator, we welcome you and acknowledge Your presence here with us today. We gather today to love and support Jane and Joe, to witness their entrance into the sacred and joyous covenant of marriage, and to celebrate the beginning of their new life together. We pray that they each may find a depth of kindness, caring, and joy through this union that will serve as a safe haven for them as they journey through their lives together. May they strengthen their bond of love and find a gentle peacefulness in being together hand in hand. Amen
Marriage Address
For those blessed by a true partnership of love, there is no need to hide any part of ourselves for the fear of being judged or rejected. We
can simply be together from moment to moment, believing that those moments will thread together into eternity. The truth is that each of you is a powerful creator in the dance of love and
marriage. Each of you, every moment of every day, has the choice to either dedicate yourselves to the other or to withhold your love and support.
Love is powerful. It is simple. And yet it is so complex. In humanity, love has so many facets and so many meanings. It is only through true love, though, that your spirits will be lifted into a oneness that transcends all the dualities of human love. It is only through the truest of love that your souls can soar and merge as one.
Jane and Joe, the bond that you share is a true miracle of love, and a blessing from God. Treasure it and carefully tend it each day. Breathe life into each other and provide a safe and sacred harbor where you are able to shed all of your worldly illusions while receiving, and cherishing the precious truth of one another.
Share the gifts of your friendship, your patience, and your tenderness. Always nurture your union with your gift of choice, your ability to communicate with each other, and your abiding respect for each other’s strength, wisdom, and uniqueness. Remember that God’s infinite wisdom brought you together and will continue to light your path with each and every choice you make. I wish you the courage to keep your loving hearts open to each other this day…and for the rest of your lives.
